Hearing Aid Evaluation and Fitting

After the initial evaluation and medical clearance has been obtained, you will be seen for a Hearing Aid Evaluation. During this appointment, we discuss your hearing loss and its impact on communication. Most patients and their families have many questions that will be addressed. Various types of hearing devices and appropriate options such as circuitry, one versus two devices, and style will be discussed. We work with several manufacturers that offer digital instruments in a variety of styles and sizes. We also offer assistive listening devices (i.e., telephone amplifiers/amplified telephones, TV Ears, etc.) according to the patient needs and lifestyle. The cost of the hearing devices varies from approximately $895 to $2895 for each, based on circuitry and features. Once the hearing instruments are ordered, they will arrive in two to three weeks. For which a second appointment is scheduled.

Payment Information

When the order is placed for the hearing instrument, at least ½ of the payment is required. The other ½ will need to be paid upon returning to be fit with your hearing device. Full payment is required before any product leaves the office. The charges will include the cost of the devices, plus a 4.6% tax on the device and a non-refundable dispensing fee of $125 (this charge covers the 60 day adjustment period and ear-mold(s) for BTE’s).

60 Day Money Back Guarantee

There is a 60 DAY ADJUSTMENT PERIOD that allows you the opportunity to wear your hearing devices in different listening situations. This will allow time for fine tuning the instruments to make them comfortable in the majority of your situations. If you decide not to keep the hearing aid(s) during the adjustment period, you will receive a refund for the hearing aid(s) and the tax. The Dispensing fee is non-refundable.

Hearing Aid Delivery

When you return for your first fitting, the hearing aids will be programmed for your hearing loss and fine tuned based on your needs and preferences. You can expect to return weekly or bi-weekly the first month. Programmable hearing aids usually need adjusting as you become more experienced listening to sound in your changing environments. We have the ability to program many parameters within the hearing aid, so it is very important to have an ongoing relationship with your audiologist during this process.

Assistive Devices

Pocket Talker. For special patients who require simplification but are unable to use traditional hearing aids, the Pocketalker is a beneficial alternative.

Baha Hearing Aids

Bone, like air, can conduct sound vibrations. For people with hearing loss, this provides another pathway to perceive sound. Typical hearing aids rely on air conduction and a functioning middle ear. In cases where the middle ear function is blocked, damaged or occluded, the Baha system may be a better option as it bypasses the outer and middle ear altogether. Instead, sound is sent around the damaged or problematic area, naturally stimulating the cochlea through bone conduction.

Once the cochlea receives these sound vibrations, the organ ‘hears’ in the same manner as through air conduction; the sound is converted into neural signals and is transferred to the brain, allowing a Baha recipient to perceive sound
